Envisioned to sit off the coast of Qatar, renderings of the hotel show a futuristic exterior that looks like a cross between a doughnut and a spaceship.

Impressively, the floating structure will generate its own electrical energy by rotating with the flow of the water currents, coupled with thrusters and turbines, creating a whirlpool. As well as using solar and wind power.

There will be 152 rooms with private balconies overlooking the sea and a view that will change as the hotel rotates.

It’s a “permanent panorama of perspective” as HAADS calls it, revealing it will take a full 24 hours to spin a complete revolution.

Luxurious amenities including a spa, gym, mini-golf course, basketball court, and indoor and outdoor pools, will complement the futuristic design. There is also plenty of lush greenery and a line of sunbeds around the hotel’s circumference.

In the centre of the 700 square-metre lobby is a funnel-shaped roof that will collect rainwater for irrigation. It will act as a temporary interior waterfall.

Essentially Qatar’s Eco-Floating Hotel is designed to have “minimum energy loss and zero waste as a principle,” according to HAADS.

Purified seawater will be reused and food waste will be used as fertiliser thanks to waste separation units.

The floating hotel will offer guests three different access points via a 140-degree floating pier that connects to the mainland.

The pier will feature two jetties for access by boat and a helipad for VIP guests who arrive by helicopter.
